The Ultra-Chic Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent by Philip de Laszlo
By Mickey Boardman

It's no secret that Mr. Mickey loves a royal portrait, and artist Philip de Laszlo is about as good as it gets. Here's a portrait he did of the woman who was probably the chicest princess of the 20th Century, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent. MM found this shot at the royal history blog of Diana Mandache, a Romanian scholar and expert on Queen Marie of Romania.

Mr. Mickey Has a Message for Balkan Royals: Stop Running for Political Office!
By Mickey Boardman

Prince Radu of Romania, the husband of Crown Princess Margarita, has announced he will NOT be running for President because he lacked popular support. MM doesn't understand what would possess a royal family member to run for elected office particularly after the experience of the former King Simeon of Bulgaria. Simeon was elected Prime Minister, and as tends to happen, he was blamed for the government's failings, which in any country can be major, let alone a country like Bulgaria which makes headlines for its corruption and organized crime. The result: the King is out as PM and is discredited as a non-partisan head of state!!! Royals are supposed to be above politics and be a rallying point for a population. How could the husband of the future Queen (non-reigning or otherwise) be President of the country without compromising her position? It's craziness! Luckily, he's withdrawn. Let's hope other royals learn from these two!

Meanwhile in Liechtenstein....
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey has always had a little thing for the Princely family of Liechtenstein. Here's a shot of Hereditary Prince Alois with his wife, the former Duchess Sophie in Bavaria (yes it's IN Bavaria not OF Bavaria. Long story). They were at the National celebration for the birthday of Prince Alois' father Hans-Adam. Also at the soiree were the Hereditary couple's children. MM isn't sure which prince is which but it's probably Prince Georg, Prince Nikolaus and Princess Marie-Caroline. The oldest son Prince Joseph Wenzel is 14 and these lil nippers look more like 9 or 10. Marie-Caroline will be 13 in October and is already a super cutie.

Little Prince Aristides of Greece
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey is dying to see pictures from the baptism of little Prince Aristides of Greece, the fifth child of Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal. It happened at the Agioi Anargyroi Monastery in Erminoni, Greece, 200 kilometers from Athens. Much of the Spanish Royal Family was in attendance and Queen Sofia (a Greek Princess by birth) wore a zippy and colorful pants ensemble. Until the photos show up in Hola! or Point de Vue, here's a shot of the family with all five children. How cute are these kids? And Pavlos is looking pretty hunky these days!
Here's a link for a fun interview with Crown Prince Pavlos in Greek outside the baptism. You can see MC and the kids in the background. I wish they spoke to MC. I wonder how her Greek sounds.

Casual Cuteness in Mallorca from Queen Sofia and the Infantas
By Mickey Boardman

Queen Sofia of Spain and her daughters the Duchess of Lugo and the Duchess of Palma are back to the island of Mallorca after a week in Greece for the baptism of the fifth little royal nipper of Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece. Of course you MMBlogaholics know that Pavlos is the son of Queen Sofia's brother King Constantine of Greece. MM is dying to see the photos from the baptism and is so excited that Greece has been allowing the royal family to spend time there -- the douchey government has been pretty heinous over the years to King Constantine and his family since the monarchy was abolished in a coup.

Kate Middleton and Her Allergy to Horses!
By Mickey Boardman

British papers are reporting that Prince William's longtime lady love Kate Middelton has been consulting specialists to help with her allergy to horses. Considering what a horsey bunch the Royal Family is, this could be debilitating for the girl many expect to be the next Princess of Wales. Maybe it could be worse -- she could be allergic to Corgis.

These Swedish Princesses Can't Stop Getting Engaged
By Mickey Boardman

These Swedish Princesses can't seem to stop getting engaged!!! Royal wedding lovers like MM were excited to hear about the impending nuptials of Crown Princess Victoria and her BF Daniel Westling on June 10th next year. Now Victoria's younger sister (and probably the sexiest Princess in Europe) has announced she's marrying her drool-worthy boyfriend Jonas Bergstrom. Sexy Jonas is a lawyer and will take slot #1 in the hottest male royals in Europe list. No date has been set for the wedding.

RIP Princess Gayatri Devi, Rajmata of Jaipur
By Mickey Boardman

MM was sad to hear of the death of one of the last of the old school international jet set glamourpusses, the Rajmata of Jaipur. Princess Gayatri Devi was the granddaughter of the Maharajah of Cooch Behar and also the Maharajah of Baroda. Her family wanted her to marry the Maharajan of Gwalior but she refused and instead married the dashing Maharajah of Jaipur. They were fixtures on the international glamour scene, hosting Jacqueline Kennedy in India and showing up at polo matches and parties around the globe. MM stayed at the Jaipur's Rambagh Palace (which is now an hotel) in November and was fantasizing about seeing the Rajmata (a title that's equivalent to Queen Mother) who was known to pop up around the palace -- but no such luck.

Albert of Monaco's Trip to a Nude Beach
By Mickey Boardman

Ah, the hazards of European attitudes about nudity. Prince Albert of Monaco was taking a romantic stroll down the beach with his ladylove Charlene and it seems they stumbled onto the clothing optional section of the beach. Ooops!

Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo Love Beach Time.
By Mickey Boardman

MM loves the summer time because it's the season for the young royal cuties to hang out at the beach. Boy that sounds very "predator"! Nonetheless, here's a cute shot of MMBlog favorite Pierre Casiraghi with his gorgeous GF Beatrice Borromeo and their pet pooch. Ah. lucky Beatrice!

Mr. Mickey Loves Discovering Royals He Didn't Know Existed!
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey really enjoys stumbling upon royals that he didn't even know existed. Being an old-school monarchist MM knows about pretty much all the big royal poobahs but today online MM came across Prince Hitachi of Japan and his wife Masahito Hitachi, Princess Hanako. I'm not sure why her name is styled thus, but there you go. Hitachi is the younger brother of Emperor Akihito. Meanwhile, check out how cute the photo of Prince Hitachi with President Alan Garcia of Peru is. They look like a comedy team. LOVE it.

Little Princess Ingrid and Prince Sverre of Norway Work a National Costume
By Mickey Boardman

How cute are little Prince Sverre and Princess Ingrid of Norway in their little national costumes? It was Norway's National Day. Ingrid will be Queen one day and MM loves watching future sovereigns grow up, he's very housewifey that way.

It Was Tiaras Galore at the Swedish Royal Visit to Holland!
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey j'adores a little bijoux and he knows you MMBlogaholics do as well. So get a load of the rocks on display as the King and Queen of Sweden paid a visit to the Noordeinde Palace in Holland. Queen Silvia wore the Leuchtenberg jewels while Queen Beatrix rolled with rubies and Crown Princess Maxima worked the pearls. What's not to love about royalty?

By Mickey Boardman

Hola! reports this week that the Duke of Palma de Mallorca has accepted a job with Telefonica in Washington, D.C. and will be packing up his family (including his wife, the Duchess, the younger daughter of King Juan Carlos of Spain) and moving them to the U.S. capital. It's not the first time an Infanta has lived in the good ole US of A. Elena, Duchess of Lugo, the older sister of Cristina, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca moved to New York City with her then-husband Jaime de Marichalar when he needed medical treatment. The couple have since separated. The Palma de Mallorcas will stay in Washington for at least two years. How adorable is this family!

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Engaged!
By Mickey Boardman

Mr. Mickey has been busy globe-trotting and having his apartment re-done and didn't even realize that one of his favorite future sovereigns, Victoria of Sweden, had gotten engaged to her longtime boyfriend Daniel Westling. Yay for them! The couple will marry on June 19, 2010 in Stockholm. The date is the wedding anniversary of the bride's parents and also a parade of other Swedish royals throughout history. Thirty-one-year-old Victoria and 35-year-old Daniel have been dating for seven years and the engagement was officially announced at the end of February. MM hopes Swedish designer Lars Nilsson will design the wedding dress!!!!

Buh-Bye Chelsy?
By Mickey Boardman

Hello! Magazine is reporting that Harry of Wales has broken up with his longtime girlfriend Chelsy Davy. Chelsy, a native of Zimbabwe, which MM loves, has a reputation as a party girl but she seems like Mother Teresa next to Harry who's regularly causing scandals with racist comments and Nazi costumes! Poor Chelsy! Maybe Pierre Casiraghi is available.

The Next Generation of Royal Cuties at the Wedding of Marie-Christine of Austria and Rodolphe de Limburg-Stirum
By Mickey Boardman
There are more photos in this gallery. View them all
The European royal cuties really came out in droves for the wedding of Marie-Christine of Habsburg and Count Rodolphe de Limburg-Stirum. Marie-Christine's mother is Astrid of Luxembourg and her father is Carl-Christian of Austria. The entire next generation of Luxemburgers came -- Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Princess Alexandra, Prince Louis and his wife Tessy, Prince Sebastian and Prince Felix. Cutie Prince Felix is also shown with his cousin Princess Maria Annunicata of Liechtenstein (daughter of Margarethe of Luxembourg). They make a fun couple!
Princess Astrid of Belgium (who, like Astrid of Luxembourg, is married to a Habsburg) is pictured with her daugther Maria-Laura of Habsburg. Maria-Laura is the younger sister of perhaps the hottest Prince around Amedeo of Habsburg. Brother of the groom Phillipe de Limburg-Stirum escorts his relative Helene de France.
Wenzeclas of Liechtenstein (who was once romantically linked to Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima) escorts his wildly chapeux-ed mother Princess Isabelle. Oh the cuteness knows no end.
