Lissy Trullie Truly Deserves Your Attention

By Alex Catarinella

With music videos featuring cameos by Chloe Sevigny and other downtown PYTs, a frequent face in the hippest of look books, and my favorite former Beatrice (RIP) DJ, some are quick to pigeonhole Lissy Trullie as just another New York "It" girl. My advice for those naysayers is to give Trullie another chance. Take Trullie's sold-out show last night at the Mercury Lounge as proof of her bona fide rock prowess. Lissy rocked the shit out of her killer blonde bob in her signature leather jacket, showcasing those throaty pipes and riffing it up like a mad woman on the guitar. With songs from her lovely Self-Taught Learner EP, like crowd favorite/Hot Chip cover "Ready for the Floor," Trullie was playful and adorably in-your-face, the opposite of her painfully hip rep. When a confused fan insisted she sing Ladyhawke's "Paris is Burning", Lissy declined with a smile: "That's not my song." But Trullie, who has admitted that she used to hate the sound of her own voice, is at her best when she shuts her eyes and lets her haunting falsetto take over, namely on heavy tracks "Self-Taught Learner" and "Billy" (who apparently was in the audience). It's moments like these where she shines, and where all those Edie Sedgwick-meets-Courtney Love mumblings go out the window. Her full-length album can come no sooner.

The Narciso Rodriguez Show

By Caroline Torem Craig

There are more photos in this gallery. View them all

Narciso Rodriguez managed to send down the runway designs that were so pure, simple and clean and richly tailored but at the same time party-ready and sexy. Courtney Love, looking beautiful with skin like peaches and cream and Hollywood super-starlet Jessica Alba were all sitting in the front row. The after-party, held at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar, in addition to featuring some delectable lobster rolls, also featured a band of Narciso-philes -- including Sally Singer, Ikram Goldman and Trish Goff.

By Zandile Blay

So the weekend is not exactly over yet, but Fashion Week has been too chock full of goodies to not check in with some juicy bits to tide you over till tomorrow. Herewith, my top ten favorite weekend moments:

1. Courtney Love performing "Bette Davis Eyes" at Alexander Wang's wrap party.

2. R&B beauties, Amerie, Kelly Rowland and Estelle being whisked in and out of the tents for multiple shows including Christian Siriano's, which was... fierce... by the way.

3. Amber Rose, who is dating an artist by the name of Kanye West, sitting front row at the Nicole Miller show.

4. Robert Verdi hustling hard to get his posh Fashion Week Survival Lounge pulled together. (Lounge indeed, I spent my entire morning there and left refreshed!)

5. Yigal Azrouel, Rogan and others kicking it at the Standard Hotel on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

6. Oil rich Africans and sartorially rich fashionistas taking in four breathtaking collections at the ARISE show then moving on to the Plaza Hotel for an after-party where everyone from celebrity stylist Alexander Allen to artist Kehinde Wiley showed up.

7. Olivia Palermo hamming it up for the camera at her friend Susan Woo's presentation.

8. Erin Wasson showing an amazing collection which featured fellow mannequins Lily Donaldson and Chanel Iman on the catwalk -- and Bruce Willis (?) in the front row.

9. Kelly Cutrone talking to the cameras for her upcoming reality show as she explained the ins and outs of Fashion Week at the Genetic Denim preview.

10. Steve Harvey -- yeah, Steve Harvey -- sitting front row at Ralph Rucci. Please file that under the "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm..."

Eight Items or Less: "Pull Your Pants Up" in Dallas, Casey Spooner in Hamlet and Endangered Club in Williamsburg

By Gary Pini

pull your pants up

1. Just Say No. Like the Reagan era anti-drug campaign, the city of Dallas has launched a ridiculous advertising blitz to stop the low-pants craze. "This is not just a teenage problem. There are people sagging in their 30s," Deputy Mayor Dwaine Caraway tells NPR. The campaign includes billboards and a theme song: "Pull Your Pants Up."

2. Hamlet, The Wooster Group's "first encounter with Shakespeare," features FISCHERSPOONER member Casey Spooner in four roles and music written for the production by his partner Warren Fischer. It runs until December 1st at The Public Theater.

3. DJ Magazine announced the results of their annual Top 100 DJs competition this week. With over 300,000 people voting, Armin Van Buren beat out Tiesto for the number one spot. DJ #4, Paul Van Dyk is spinning tomorrow night at the Halloween Ball at Roseland, 239 West 52nd St. $40.

4. Next time just toss a TV. Courtney Love has been banned from posh London hotel Claridge's because she set fire to her $3,000 a night room during a previous stay.

5. Luiza from CSS and Bjorn from Peter, Bjorn and John are DJing tonight at Cheeky Bastard in the Hiro Ballroom of the Maritime Hotel, 317 West 16. While neither made the aforementioned Top 100, the event is free.

6. Author Michael Gross describes life across the street from CBGB many moons ago: "The block housed drug dealers offering everything from coke to Colombian weed (sold out of a full wooden barrel by the hairy hobbit who rented my building's basement) to Iranian opium." (via The New York Observer)

7/ Endangered club alert! Williamsburg's Triple Crown is under attack from just about everybody -- police, fire department, neighbors, etc. -- and they need your help. Stop by the venue at 108 Bedford Ave. this Sunday from 1-9 p.m. and sign a petition to let them live in peace. Of course there will be tons of DJs to entertain you: The Rub, Negroclash, Bangers, etc.

Stella McCartney for Adidas Launch Party

By Mickey Boardman

courtney love, stella mccartney & kate moss

How's this for a superstar/rock 'n' roll/ fashion trio? Courtney Love and Kate Moss sandwich Stella McCartney at the party for Stella's fabulous Adidas line in London. Mr. Mickey wears sneakers by Stella M for Adidas. Yes they're ladies, but MM is cruelty free and has a hard time finding super-fashiony trainers for mens (this is not a typo, it's a funny attempt to talk all hip-hop)! So sue me!!!! Anyway, these girls are gorgeous.

After the jump see another superstar duo at the same party.

Blonde Bombshells of Fashion Week

By Mickey Boardman

There are always rumors that this is the time that the celebrities will desert Fashion Week. There were particularly strong before this season. Well, here are two lovely ladies who would argue that the stars are gone from FW. Miss Courtney Love (at Marc Jacobs) and Mrs. Victoria Beckham (at Marc J, below, and also Oscar de la Renta, as pictured above). Honey as long as there's a Fashion Week, there will be front row celebrities!!!

Coachella Rocked My World: Part One

By Shanon Kelley

arcade%20fire.pnglily allen

I just got back yesterday morning from an amazing weekend at Coachella. During the three-day-long festival I had the extreme pleasure of staying with the Brazilian cuties of CSS. We partied and played all weekend (and I even saw some great music in between). Other celebrities and musicians that I saw (and that were seen) include Amy Winehouse and Kelly Osbourne walking hand in hand, Vincent Gallo, Jeremy Scott, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore (talking to Arcade Fire and then making out with an Arctic Monkey), Perry Farrell, Courtney Love, Jason Statham (actor from Snatch and The Transporter), Danny DeVito, Lindsay Lohan, Steve Aoki, Mark Hunter, Cory Kennedy, Busy Phillips and Scarlett Johansson (singing with the Jesus & Mary Chain and then later driving home with Cameron Diaz).

My favorite siting by far was Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz. I was eating a slice of pizza in the shade of the press tent when he walked by. I didn't know what I was doing at the time but I suddenly yelled out "Hey!" with a stuffed mouth. He smiled and walked over, at which point I didn't know what else to do but smile and blurt out with a mouth full of food that I loved his band.

(Above two photos of Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire and Lily Allen and her boyfriend)

Courtney Love Kicks Kurt Cobain Out of the House

By David Hershkovits

courtney love francis bean cobain

Sure, its been 13 years since Kurt Cobain left the building, but his pajamas are still keeping Courtney's buns warm at night. No more, says Love. She has decided to auction off his belongings at Christie's. She tells Spinner: "[My house] is like a mausoleum. My daughter [14-year-old Frances Bean] doesn't need to inherit a giant hefty bag full of flannel f***ing shirts ... A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to 'Teen Spirit' -- that's what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we'll just f***ing sell."

Does this announcement, once again trafficking on the Cobain legacy, have anything to do with the fact that Love has a new record, Nobody's Daughter, about to drop in which she looks back at some of her celebrated affairs with Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan and Ed Norton. I'll leave it for you, dear reader, to decide.

"I still wear his pajamas to bed," she says. "How am I ever going to go form another relationship in my lifetime wearing Kurt's pajamas?"

OK, well maybe there are some other reasons she has not moved on to another relationship besides Kurt's pajamas. Like her personality and destructive habits. Seems like she still hasn't learned to take responsibility for her actions.

Here she is photographed with daughter Francis Bean Cobain.
